Preparing for the saltwater In this video I go through the electrical connectors in the engine compartment adding dielectric grease and anti-corrosive lubricant. This lubricant, Anti-Corrosive Spray, which is approved by BRP for anything on everything on the ski. Some people have used this all over the engine but I did not do that this time. Once I wash the engine and engine compartment I will use it on most of the nuts and bolts to ensure they do not corrode. Doing this was farely easy, no hidden fasteners or special tools needed.
Rock in impeller While at Lake Lavon I picked up a rock in my impeller while parking the ski in preparation of loading back on the trailer. I was able to get the rock out pretty easily, this was before I learned how to use the IBR bypass feature, which would have made it much easier. There wasn't much damage to the impeller or wear ring but there is enough that it does reduce the take off performance of the ski. I am now experiencing some reduced takeoff performance but overall performance is still fantastic. I might put in a high performance impeller and wear ring during the winter season when fishing is more difficult to do.
First Freshwater Fishing Trip This trip was to Lake Ray Roberts and I launched out of Ray Roberts Lake State Park. It is a very nice facility with great parking. I went there with a friend who has a boat and does some tournament fishing. We went to several different places, I tried many different baits but came up empty. The experience was great and the area was beautiful, I will be going back there again. Next time I might try taking my heavy trolling rod and see if I can get deep enough to get some stripers.
First Ride In this video I take the Fish Pro Trophy out for the first ride. I spent about 30 minutes riding around the lake, trying out different features and this is where I discovered there were several issues with the ski. The different speed features, trolling and maximum speed, were not functioning. The IDF also would not engage. Discovered after taking it to the local dealer the software update was not the only problem. The dealer where I purchased it failed to correctly setup the ski. When the ECM was installed it was not configured for a ski with IDF so all of the special features did not function. Once the local dealer, Freedom Powersports in Dallas, Texas, discovered this but was able to fix the issue after some investigation and reconfiguration. After looking at a few other items they also discovered much of the initial dealer preperation was not completed correctly. It wasn't until after my first Port O'Connor trip did I realize just what they had missed. The biggest and most glaring problem was the fact the secondary battery was not secured at all. It had bounced out of it's holder when I hit a few of the bigger waves.
Initial Setup In this video I am going through the Fish Pro Trophy looking at various items and making sure everything is as it should be. This is my first ski so I am also becoming familiar with everything.
